The ornate altarpiece of the Metropolitan Cathedral in Panama City, Panama, which we visited during our 2024 Panama trip.
Although this is not the type of church we attend, we stopped in to have a look around, and it was beautiful to see. The full name of the building is the Metropolitan Archcathedral Basilica of Santa María la Antigua, or Catedral Basílica Santa María la Antigua de Panamá in Spanish.
Beach chairs and umbrellas in the sand on the shore of the Atlantic Ocean at Cocoa Beach, Florida, from our visit in July 2024.
When we have gotten to the beach early and have staked out our spot, I sometimes get a little frustrated when people come later and set up their stuff right in front of us. However, these people did at least go over to the side just a bit and were not directly in front of us. And besides, their stuff created a good photo opportunity. So I am not complaining here.
The World War II Memorial on the National Mall in Washington, DC, honors those who served in the United States Armed Forces during the war. Pictured above is the Atlantic archw, commemorating triumph in the Atlantic theater. Centered in the Atlantic arch, you can see the corresponding Pacific arch.
Recently, I have seen lots of photos and video of our nation’s capital, and it reminded me of our visit there in 2023. I went through some of the photos from that trip, and I found these of the WWII Memorial that I had not previously shared.
A mountain and the skyline of Panama City, Panama, rise in the distance behind the waters of Panama Bay off the Pacific Ocean, as seen during our 2024 Panama trip.
Water flows over Twin Falls at Rock Island State Park in Tennessee, as seen during our 2024 Tennessee Waterfalls trip.
When we were looking at Tennessee State Parks to visit to see waterfalls, I had seen photos of Twin Falls. But when we were at Rock Island State Park, I could not figure out where these falls were at first. So I had to get out my phone and do a little more looking.
Our Christmas tree for 2024 in our den. This photo was from December 23, when all of the gifts were wrapped and placed under the tree, because we would start opening them the next day.
Yes, Christmas was a couple of weeks ago now, but I am still catching up on the Christmas posts. It was a busy holiday season, not that I am complaining about it. And besides, this photo is being posted on the 12th Day of Christmas. So instead of 12 drummers drumming, you get one Christmas tree photo. I am not sure where you would put those 12 drummers, anyway.
Each year, we have our traditional Christmas gatherings. And one of our traditions during each of those traditional gatherings is taking photos to commemorate the occasion. Here are a few photos from our 2024 Gatherings. Okay, maybe more than a few photos.
Christmas Eve We spend Christmas Eve at my parents’ house, eating a delicious lunch, opening presents, talking, and taking photos.
Here we are all together in front of the fireplace
Over several days during the 2024 Christmas season, I made a series of social media posts of verses relating to the Christmas holidays, very loosely inspired by “A Visit from St. Nicholas”, which is better known by its first line. I should probably apologize to Clement Moore for that.
Some verses were more humorous, some were slightly more serious. Some had a definite meter, while others did not. There is a reason why I am not a full-time poet, after all.
Sea oats flutter in the breeze at Lori Wilson Park in Cocoa Beach, Florida, from our July 2024 Florida trip.
On most of our trips to Cocoa Beach, I take a sea oats photo. It has become a tradition. And if you think it is a strange tradition, that is because traditions are made to be strange. And besides, I don’t mind being strange.
Thanksgiving 2024 has come and gone1. We had a good Thanksgiving, and all of our family was together for the first time in a little while. So, of course, we had to take some photos.
Here we all are together. And yes, I had just run in after setting the timer on the camera.
Just the Bramletts for this photo. Here we all are together. Some people in this photo may be slightly taller than the last time we were together.
