Polynesian Village Resort Boat Dock in the Evening

The boat dock at the Polynesian Village Resort at Walt Disney World stands between the sandy beach and a cloud-filled sky.
Whenever we are at the Polynesian Village Resort, we look forward to some time to sit in a swing on the beach and enjoy the view. No, we do not stay at the resort, we just drop by when we are in the area.
On this particular day, we had gotten soaked as we were riding the boat from the Wilderness Lodge. Those clouds that you can see in the sky were the remnant of the big rainstorm that came through. We had wondered if it would stop raining for us to enjoy some time on the beach, and it did. It was not too hot and not too cool, just right. And for that, we were thankful.
When I look back at photos like this, I remember little things, like how Laura was intrigued by the beach ball at the left corner of the fence. I am guessing someone had left it there during their day on the beach, and so we left it there, too.
Little Things
While some people were rushing off to theme parks to ride rides and see fireworks, we were just enjoying the cool breeze of the evening. That is just a little thing, but we had an enjoyable evening doing it.
Things do not have to be big things to be enjoyable. Little things are nice, too. And sometimes those little moments are just as memorable as the big moments. So many of our trips these days are made up of more little moments than big moments. And that is just fine with me.
Just another reminder, as has been said here before, that loving one another does not necessarily take big acts. Little acts and little moments can spread love every bit as effectively as a big moment can.
Look for those seemingly little things that you can do for others, because they can make a big difference.
Whatever you do, work heartily, as for the Lord and not for men, knowing that from the Lord you will receive the inheritance as your reward. You are serving the Lord Christ. - Colossians 3:23-24
About the Photo
Recently, I have been sharing posts with multiple photos, and that has its advantages at times. But back in the old days1 I used to post single-photo posts. Those were obviously easier to do because I only had to work on one photo before posting. And I could usually tell a story just with that photo, and then use another photo later on for another story. I had gotten out of the habit of doing that for a while, but I thought it would be good to do it again, especially with our recent Florida trip that was made of lots of small adventures. So here you go.
Also, the look of this photo goes back to some of the old HDR days with lots of contrast and colors and cool clouds. This was created using just one photo instead of multiple exposures like the old HDR photos, but it still captures that same feel. And one photo is easier to work with than trying to merge three or five exposures, too.

What constitutes “old days”? I used to make single-photo posts often, as recently as a year ago or less. ↩︎
