A Purple Hydrangea Blossom, and Some Things Never Change

A purple hydrangea blossom stands out against the green leaves in the background. This photo is a direct follow-up to the Rose in Spring posted recently, from the Around Home in Spring 2025 series.
We have had this hydrangea plant in our yard for a few years, but this is the best year yet that it has had. The purple color is magnificent, and I am looking forward to seeing the plant grow and bloom more.
For the look of this photo, I decided to go in a completely different direction from that previous rose photo. You can read more about that in the About the Photo section below.
Some Things Never Change
I have recently been doing some behind-the-scenes work here are the Burnsland website. Specifically, I had to do some upgrades to the site theme for everything to work with the latest version of the Hugo static site generator, which is what I use to make things work. And if everything looks the same to you as it did before, then that means that everything worked well, because I wanted to keep that same look as before, even though it took some work to get there.
Technology is always changing, it seems. Every few days, something new comes out to replace something old. It often feels like you have to hurry to keep up, or you will quickly be left behind. So much has changed from how things were 10 years ago, or 15, or 20. Most of the changes have been good ones, of course, if you can keep up with them. It takes some work, but it is good on the long run.
And while most all of that change is good, all of that also makes me appreciate the things that do not change. Like hydrangeas, for example. This one has changed in that it finally has bloomed, but every year hydrangeas put out new blooms. Those die at the end of the season, but new blooms come back the next year. The same is true for all kinds of plants.
Our basic human needs have also not changed. We need food, shelter, and clothing, and most importantly, love. I do not believe any of that will ever change, either.
And best of all, God does not change. The Gospel does not change. The fact that Jesus died for us to take away our sins does not change. The methods of spreading that message may change, but the message itself continues to stay the same.
Be a blessing to others, sharing with them the love and the good news of Jesus that they need.
Remember your leaders who have spoken God’s word to you. As you carefully observe the outcome of their lives, imitate their faith. Jesus Christ is the same yesterday, today, and forever. - Hebrews 13:7-8
About the Photo
As I mentioned above, this photo is a departure from the previous photo. In that other one, I had dialed down the background green tones quite a bit. But in this one, I chose to bring out the green tones, because they complimented the purple tones even more. I wanted a different look for that other photo than I wanted for this one, because not every photo has to look the same.
Like the last one, this photo was taken with a 50mm prime lens to give that deep depth of field that I do often enjoy.
