Hawaii 2023 Trip Report Part 7 - The North Shore

Hawaii 2023 Trip Report Part 7 - The North Shore

The Hawaiʻi trip in June 2023 continues with a visit to a North Shore beach and some night photos. If you have not done so already, you might want to read the previous part. Monday, June 19, 2023 By now, if you have been reading the trip report, you know our usual routine. This day started like the others. No complaints at all. Great company, great scenery, a great place. It was all great, as you might have guessed.

The sun sets past the lagoon and ocean near the Disney resort of Aulani on the island of Oʻahu in Hawaiʻi, as seen during our June 2023 visit. As you may know from reading the trip report, we went for a walk just about every evening that we were there. Part of that was to work off some of the calories we had eaten (do vacation calories even count?), part of that was to unwind from the day (not that we were stressed, but it is always good to relax at the end of the day), and part of that was to enjoy the beautiful scenery and sunsets. And as you might imagine, photos were taken on most of those nights, too. Not quite every night, but most of them.

Hawaii 2023 Trip Report Part 6 - A Lighthouse

As our Hawaiʻi trip in June 2023 continues, we drive through the mountains to church and then hike to a lighthouse. If you have not done so already, you might want to read the previous part. Sunday, June 18, 2023 Once again, we followed our usual routine of getting up at 7:00 AM and eating breakfast on the Riedels’ balcony. We are definitely creatures of habit. No complaints from any of us about that.

As our Hawaiʻi trip in June 2023 continues, we hike to a waterfall and go to a lūʻau. If you have not done so already, you might want to read the previous part. Saturday, June 17, 2023 Once again we were up at 7:00 (or soon after - there is a snooze button for a reason, after all) for what had quickly become our morning routine. Showers, breakfast on the Riedels’ balcony, enjoying the scenery while avoiding the sun as much as possible.

If you have read part 4 of the trip report, you may recall reading that I took lots of beach photos, but that I did not include all that many in that post. This is one of the many that I did not include. Not that it was not good enough to “make the cut”, but just that I had too many to choose from. I decided to hold on to most of them to post at random times. The next post after that day of the trip report might not be all that random, however. But there are still plenty more to share later on.

Hawaii 2023 Part 4 - Morning at the Beach

As our Hawaiʻi trip in June 2023 continues, we go out searching and wind up at the beach. If you have not done so already, you might want to read the previous part. Friday, June 16, 2023 It does not take us long to settle into a routine. Just as with the previous day, my alarm started waking us up at 7:00 AM, and then after showering and such, we ate breakfast on the Riedels’ balcony. Especially with a view like that for breakfast, I could definitely get used to that routine.

Hawaii 2023 Trip Report Part 3 - A Day at Aulani

As our Hawaiʻi trip in June 2023 continues, we spend a day at the Aulani resort. Well, mostly. And if you have not done so already, you might want to read the previous part. Thursday, June 15, 2023 I had set an alarm on my phone for 7:00 AM, because I did not want to sleep the whole vacation away. I had woken up during the night a time or two around 2:00 AM, because that was 7:00 AM back home. But I was able to go right back to sleep after that.

Hawaii 2023 Trip Report Part 2 - Arriving at Aulani

As our Hawaiʻi trip in June 2023 gets underway, we fly to Honolulu and arrive at Aulani. And if you have not done so already, you might want to read the introduction first. Wednesday, June 14, 2023 Our first flight was scheduled to leave Memphis at 8:30 AM. That meant getting to the airport at 6:30 AM. Because of the early hour, Laura and I spent the night at the Riedels’ house. That way, we could all get up and leave from their house in one car, instead of parking two cars at the airport or us Burnses leaving really, really early to go by and pick up the Riedels.

Evening View The ʻEwa tower of Aulani - A Disney Resort and Spa is seen across Koholā Lagoon in Hawaiʻi during our June 2023 visit. Each evening during our stay, we would go for walks along the Ko Olina lagoons. The views from our walks were quite nice, to say the least. The Ko Olina resort area is along a series of four lagoons, and a path goes along the edges of each one.

Hawaii 2023 Trip Report Part 1 - Introduction

We went on a Hawaiʻi trip in June 2023 with the Riedels to celebrate 30th anniversaries! Read all about our trip! But before we go, here is some background information… An Introduction Thirty years ago, Laura and I got married. Yes, we were just kids at the time, thanks for asking! In that same year, our best friends Brant and Karen Riedel also got married. Some people may not think that a 30th wedding anniversary is as big as a 25th or a 50th, but who says that you can’t celebrate it in a grand way if you want to? So we decided to take a special trip to celebrate our 30th anniversaries. Just us adults, no kids on this trip. Never mind the fact that all of the “kids” are now technically adults. Just us older, married-for-30-years adults on this trip.
