As you may recall from the trip report, we went out to see the sunset most of the nights that we were in Hawaiʻi. As you can see from this photo, we were not alone. There were a few people down by the lagoon, and there were several more under the palm trees on the small hill in the distance. You may know I like wide-angle views sometimes, and I did like this view that takes in all of the scenery. You can read more about this day in Part 3 of our trip report.

As I look back at this photo, it is slightly difficult to believe that our most recent Hawaiʻi trip was almost a year ago. Much has happened since that time, but the memories still seem fresh in my mind. Hopefully, those memories will not fade anytime soon.

It is another month, which means another Hawaiʻi sunset photo. Maybe I have not been posting one a month, but it feels like it.1 Maybe it will become a regular thing, or maybe not.

When I was compiling photos for the trip report, I purposefully left out some of the sunset photos that I had taken. If you have already read the report, you know that there were lots of sunset photos in the report. But I took lots more photos than I could include in the report, so I thought it would be a good idea to share some of them from time to time, because the photos can definitely stand on their own.

In the trip report, I shared several sunset photos, but I also intentionally held back several other photos to be able to share later on. One reason was so that I would have more to post throughout the winter. And another reason was that I wanted to spend a little more time working on some of these photos. Tuesday, June 20, 2023 As was our custom by this point, we started off the day much like every other day. Up at 7:00 AM, breakfast on the Riedels’ balcony. It had been a good routine. But beyond that, things were starting to change. We knew this was to be our last full day at Aulani, so our morning routine would not last much longer. And besides that, we had plans for the day that were a little different from the previous days.

As you may know from reading the trip report, we went for a walk just about every evening that we were there. Part of that was to work off some of the calories we had eaten (do vacation calories even count?), part of that was to unwind from the day (not that we were stressed, but it is always good to relax at the end of the day), and part of that was to enjoy the beautiful scenery and sunsets. And as you might imagine, photos were taken on most of those nights, too. Not quite every night, but most of them.

Each evening, around the time that the sun was setting, we would go for a walk along the Ko Olina lagoons. We would start at Aulani, walk to the end of the walkway (or until we reached the end of the lighted part if it was dark), and then walk back.
